Private Lessons

These lessons are fun and inspiring. My goal is to provide my students with the highest quality private music instruction available. As an educator, I want my students to become musically self sufficient so that in time they will have the technical knowledge, confidence, and experience to play whatever music they desire. Lessons are 30 minutes long.

We teach... So Students will...

NOTE READING

Learn new music quickly
Not be afraid to try something new
Not be limited to remembering hand and finger numbering
Be able to pick up sheet music with little help from the teacher

PRIVATE LESSONS

Progress at their own pace
Have their specific needs and goals met
Have their special interests addressed
Feel special

PRACTICING TECHNIQUES

Learn how to use practice time efficiently
Learn how to solve problems
Learn to avoid lesson frustration
Learn to focus on progress rather than minutes spent at the piano

WHAT CAN PARENTS DO?

  • Establish a set time for practice every day and monitor the practice time to see that he/she practices at least 30 - 45 minutes daily.
  • Clear the area of all distractions i.e. including teasing siblings, video games, televisions, loud phone conversations, and the pianist’s own cell phone and I-pod.
  • Have child practice the night of the piano lesson, so that he or she can get the ultimate benefit of what was said.
  • Break practice into manageable minute sessions, according to the bend of your child.
  • Take a moment a few nights a week to listen and talk about practice with your child.  Periodically say "I like you're playing!"
Work with Mrs. Stevens to help your child succeed in expressing him/herself through the arts.
